This long weekend:
canned 7 quarts & 1 1/2 pint, Stewed Tomatoes
canned 2 quarts, 11 pints and 2 1/2 pints of halved peaches (from the tree)
canned 7 1/2 pints of grape jelly
froze 12 bags (4-6 cups each) of grapes (Concord, I think, from my 5 vines) for making grape stuff this winter

It is easy. DON'T be afraid of failure, because when tomatoes go bad (in the jar), they smell REALLY bad, so you won't eat them.
#1 Get a simple canner--looks like a pot with a lid and jar dividers.
#2 Harvest tomatoes
#3 Boil water. Put tomatoes in for about 30 seconds (at a hard boil). Use a...
Just canned orange marmalade yesterday!! Nine 1/2 pints, and one 1/2 full, not sealed, in the fridge! Ball only suggests 10 minutes in a hot water bath. I think, next time, though, I'm gonna use some pectin. I don't care for it being a little runny.

Just put up 7 quarts of grape jelly (mostly in 1/2 pints with 3 pints.) I canned them last year, 2008, when I had so many grapes I didn't know what to do with them, but they didn't gel quite right. Sooo... I pulled them out of the pantry and had a 2nd try, this time WITH pectin. I really wish...
Thanks! It's a bit confusing how to can pumpkin, that is. THIS is the way I canned Hubbard Squash, the last time that I grew it, but I just ate it out of the jar. I didn't cook with it. Thanks for the link.
Do you mash them after you unscrew the jars? Are your pumpkins canned in water? Just curious, because I just canned some myself.
BTW, I HAD to copy your sig, "Light travels faster than sound. That's why some people appear bright until you hear them speak."
You had me laughing at that one!
