    That's good to know, thank you! We've got three 6-week-old Easter Eggers and the hackles are really starting to become noticeable on two of them, including this gal. The EEs have so much more personality than our Orpingtons, I'd be sad to see them go.

    One more: this bird does not appreciate it when I try to take photos. EE at 5 weeks in the closeup, 6 weeks in the other photos. Please break my heart gently. Those are pointed hackle feathers, no? And some splotchy rust colored patches?

    Any guesses about this lively 5-week-old EE? I believe that the single row peacomb makes it likely she's a pullet but I'm definitely too new at this to put any money on it. S/he's 6 weeks now and I haven't noticed any new characteristics yet like a bigger/redder comb or a difference in feathers...
