Goats for Milk, Cheese & Meat

Also wanted to add.. I bought my Jersey with good bloodlines and papers when she was a week old. I kept her on milk for a lot longer than most people wean bottle calves. Therefore I didn't pump grain into her to wean. Raised her out on pasture with meat cows with little if no grain. The first...

Goats for Milk, Cheese & Meat

Everyone loves the Jersey milk. Not too rich but has a nice layer of cream that needs to be shaken up before drinking. Absolutely love my Jersey, she is left with her calf 12 hours at night. He is put out with other 4 calves I have during the day (which he loves and waits by the gate each...

Goats for Milk, Cheese & Meat

Last year I leased a dairy goat, a Saanen, to make sure we could handle the full time milking and liked the milk. We loved it. The one pure Saanen I have now was from that same farm. Why would her milk taste so good on the same feed if it has to do with that? The other 3 came from the another...

Goats for Milk, Cheese & Meat

I just started with dairy goats this year. Went with a Saanen, 2 Lamancha's and a Saanen/Lamancha cross. They were all young so had to wait to bred them, all had kids the last couple months. They are all fed same thing, milked the same, milk is filtered and cooled as quickly as possible. The...
