You can use a tree branch, a 2X2, 2X3, 2X4 as mentioned above or just about anything that will support their whole foot. They will take to just about anything. They do not like anything slippery though. You need about 10'' of perch/roost for every full sized chicken.- Chick Charm

Yes of course. Even chicks in the brooder want a roost. Next to a roof, a roost is paramount in a coop. Wish ya the best.- Chick Charm
