I didn't. This year I got out of breeding birds and sold off my horstman flock and rebooted with chickens. I wound up buying a mix of hatchery birds because my wife and kids wanted an assortment. I overpaid from Mypetchicken because I only needed a small order (8) and because I couldn't find...

If they have any shade at all then most breeds (if not all) should be fine here. I ran a few CCLs in my flock until last year and they did absolutely fine. I have an open air coop, built within a copse of maple trees so plenty of shade. I make no extra plans for heat or cold and the birds do...

I have a moderate BTE garden, ~10,000 sqft give or take. Weather has me behind a bit in the maintenance of it (too wet, or too cold, both sometimes), but hoping to get all the pre-planting stuff done in the next couple of weeks. I started a few things indoors last week. I like Baker Creek...

Anyone in SWVA or the NRV interested in a mini-flock? They all turned 1 y.o. on 4/11/17 but just don't fit into my breeding programs - we're selling off our LF to focus on our bantam rocks. NPIP. Located near Wytheville - would consider delivery within reason. $70. 2 Crested Cream Legbar 1...

Beaver Dam is east. Past Charlottesville, VA. In the Richmond(ish) neck of the woods... It'd be a drive from BSG if they don't ship. I made an inquiry for Delawares on a SWVA FB Poultry Swap page. I'll forward the results and/or page info if you'd like.

Hello, Just seeing if there are any 'exhibition quality' duck breeders in this thread. Looking for Campbells, ideally 'Dark Campbells,' possibly open to other breeds. Thanks,

Most spider bites aren't going to do much (besides cause panic) - essentially only the reclusive spider species (widows, recluse) are have medically significant venom. Difficult to tell from the spider's condition in the photo - but I'd guess Dark Fishing Spider as well... (possibly Carolina...

I'm likely going to have excess exhibition quality barred rock bantam cockerels in the next few weeks. I ordered a dozen straight run chicks from Dick Horstman and will only hold on to a pair of roosters if anyone has any interest. Blacksburg/Pulaski/Wythe area... Also - any 'heritage'...

What is your source for this? Everything I'm seeing from state wide to local regulations still seems to be in regards to importing birds. I can't imagine every vendor at every TSC swap, livestock market, etc is testing for AI and can't find code requiring it.

Personal preference. Marek's has decimated flocks in my area in recent years, and it's just a precaution I take.

Anyone have marek's vaccinated chicks (or hatching eggs) of: barred, patridge, or silver penciled rock welsummer naked neck (a cross of these would be ok, barred, frizzle, etc if standard isn't available - bantams are ok also) ameraucan (silver, blue, buff, or wheaton)
