I'm in Fauquier County and have 6 Buff Orpington pullets for sale. We hatch from our own flock. 4 of them are 10 weeks old and hand/brooder raised. The other 2 are 6 weeks old and broody raised. If anybody is interested, please let me know. Price is negotiable. Thanks. Ryan

I know the feeling. I hunt and process my own deer/turkey, so I had the same thought about eating the adults. Then, after hand raising them from chicks, I can't bring myself to do it. Lol, oh well. I told my wife I'm going to build a retirement coop for the old girls. Anyways, if you're still...

If you don't mind me asking, why are you looking for 2 roosters right now?

I don't currently have one, but I'll keep you in mind with my next hatch. I'm in Fauquier and have I do several hatches a year. Our flock is pure bred Buff Orpingtons, so the roosters have a great temperament and are wonderful flock protectors. We always end up giving away the cockerels.

I'm in Fauquier County. I have 5, 7 week old Buff Orpington cockerals free for the taking. We hatched 9 eggs, from our own chickens, and 5 of them are boys. We already have a rooster, so we're only keeping the girls. If you prefer them older, I can keep them for a while longer. They are hand...

I only have Buff Orpingtons, but here's a link to the farms in Fauquier County with different chicken breeds. I'm not sure if all of them do chicks, or hatching eggs, but it's worth a shot. http://pubapp.fauquiercounty.gov/government/departments/agdev/index.cfm?action=farmlist&sub=poultry

I'd never heard of them, but I just checked their website. They look like nice, well built coops. Not your typical "pre-fab" coops. If I didn't build my own, this would look like a good route to go.

Forgot to mention. My flock doesn't have any genetic issues to pass on and the rooster is very docile with people and great to the hens. Also, I believe I have 3-4 cockerels in my brooder right now. They will be free to anyone that wants them. They're only 3.5 weeks old, so I need a couple more...

I wish I had over planned things. I changed out and rearranged almost everything with my set up, the first year I had chickens. I wish I knew about this website back then. It would have saved me a lot of trial and error. That said, I'm happy with my setup and it was fun building everything.

My flock is all Buff Orpingtons with a Buff Orpington rooster. I currently have 20 eggs in the incubator that are all thriving at 14 days. Last month, we had 14-15 eggs fertile. How many eggs are you looking for? I'm in Fauquier County

You might not have enough space for 6, standard/large breeds. They should have a minimum of 4 sq. ft. of coop and 10 sq. ft. of run, per bird. Bantams use a little less. Ventilation is the most important thing. You can keep an upper soffit completely open, covered in hardware cloth, and a few...

I'm not sure if this is the right place. I need to re-home a few cockerels in a few weeks. I'm in Fauquier County and have 9 chicks in the brooder. We incubated them from our flock. We only have Buff Orpington hens and a Buff Orpington rooster. Since we have a young rooster, we don't have a big...
