Anybody in/near Roanoke interested in a free Plymouth Rock Roo? He's almost 20 weeks and started being agressive to our young kids/dogs. He even attacks me when I try to feed them. Oy!

I posted this little thing on the Facebook VA page, but thought I'd try here! I'm in Roanoke and I have this little chick, just over 4 weeks now. It has Slipped Achilles Tendon (info here) and we've known for a couple weeks now...but someone local recommended us to "wait it out" because it was...

This'll sound ridiculous. But I have no idea if we're city or county We moved from Cali last May, then just recently to this new place in December. We have a good lot(over 30k SF). No HOAs, thankfully. And no neighbors touching the back/sides of our house. Maybe I'll call the utility company...

Definitely hope to be there!! :) Question for ya... When I was researching on here before purchasing any chicks or anything, I found something that said in Roanoke, you can have 10 chickens in X amount of property, and I think up to 40 in XX amount of property. I just stumbled on...

ki4got, at these swaps, is it still the law to purchase 6 chicks at once? If not, you'll probably see me at Tractor Supply! We need two more chickies!

So are those for sale? We want 2 more hens... we picked up 8 today from tactor supply! Oy!!

That is exactly what we plan to do! Try a variety and see what we like. I imagine with 7 hens, we'll have plenty of eggs every week, even if they aren't the best layers. Appearance isn't as necessary as personality.

Wow! Thanks for the advice on the chickens. Sheesh! If I don't want to go that route, what would you suggest? I found the VA Chicken FB page!

Thanks for your help, everyone! So if he could make it offer more ventilation it would be better? http://roanoke.craigslist.org/for/3624645360.html this links last picture shows the size better. If this one doesn't work out, how about something like this...

Neither my husband or myself can make a coop lol. We don't have the knowledge or the materials. Any suggestions on something that is premade? I've searched on Craigslist and everything premade is $1000+ Someone want to make a DIY that we can buy? lol

Thanks for your advice. I'm learning here! :) I asked him about the ventilation actually, that was my first thought. He said they use a similar coop and that because it is not manufactured wood, it still retains moisture and that as it drys, it will contract and give lots of gaps between the...

We're buying this coop tomorrow. He said it was 2 SF per chicken, so 8 chickens? I'm guessing, by what you're saying, its not that at all. We plan on having them free range all day(or most of it) because we have a very large, fenced yard. http://roanoke.craigslist.org/grd/3613582317.html We...

We just moved to Ronaoke and we're looking to purchase some chickens/coop for the first time! Looks like we can have 10 chickens(well I think actually 40, we have a HUGE fenced backyard. About the size of two lots) and no neighbors along our backyard. We want to start small with 6 hens and a...
