Hi Everyone. I just thought this is a good time to post these as now is as good a time as any to look at your birds and make selections on who will be breeding this spring. Here are a few more pointers for choosing between the birds in your flock. If you have any questions, please feel free...
I agree. I would listen to a master exhibitor before an internet expert every time. Not to mention Shumaker farms beautiful quality fowl.
Oh and let's not forget healthy as well.
You are welcome. Feel free to ask any questions you have. I don't know everything but I have access to a lot of people who combined can get the answers you need.
Dudefromtampa, I tagged admin to help you to load pics. You are welcome for the pics I posted. I am here to help people understand the breed. Please feel free to ask questions and jump into any conversation. Glad to have you here.
Feel free to post some pics of buckeye heads and compare them. As far as I am concerned, the head of the bird will transcend throughout the whole body. Ideally, you want a strong beak as well.
Hello everyone. I just thought now was a good time to be thinking (if you are not already doing this) about setting up your spring breed pens. There is no yard work or gardening to do so if you can brave the cold or have an unusually warm day, go out and take a long hard look at the heads...
Congrats Joe! And Sidney and the rest of the girls too. You have done well to spotlight the Buckeye breed. Your birds are beautiful. You have inspired many. Thank you for your continued dedication to the breed and the aspirations of a woman over a century ago.
I have a feeling we will...

I had a great time at the ON. Lot's of faces I can now put with names. Lots of fun hanging out and conversing with buckeye fanciers. Thank you all for supporting the breed!
At the end of August, one of my free ranging hens hatched a clutch of Buckeye chicks after going missing for a few weeks. I had no way of knowing which hen might have produced each chick, and I was finished brooding for the year anyway. With the first annual Eastern Ohio Poultry Association show...
No I don't think they are related. The chicks I donated to the EOPA were hen hatched by a freerange hen. They are separate from my main breeders. There were 7 hens of which any could be the mothers. I did get the pics just now. Thanks for sharing. If you like, I can post them here. Your...
There are supposed to be over 70 Buckeye Large Fowl at the Ohio National and a ton of Bantam Buckeyes as well. Cindy has her nice camera and we will be taking tons of pictures of ALL of the Buckeyes and posting them here for all to see.
I am working, along with a few other Buckeye enthusiasts...
