Has everyone here heard what's going on in the Idaho state legislature? The Senate & House have passed an "Ag Gag" bill prohibiting anyone from recording, photographing or videotaping ag businesses' treatment of animals--even on public lands! This makes it much more difficult to be aware of &...
Mamahumecky--So sorry for the tragedy & for your little boy's sadness! I wonder if your neighbors would tell you if that happened if you asked them & let them know you didn't consider the dog at fault if the chick was in their yard. Maybe not if they didn't communicate in the first place. Sad...
Sometimes nutrition in parent birds' as well as in chicks' diets can affect this. There is some info on this on the Poultry Podiatry page on my site, if you haven't already read things on that.
If you think trying splints some more would be helpful, I also have illustrations on that at...
One coop I had was a great hideaway for mites & I could never get rid of mites on the chickens in that coop. Finally I tried Frontline flea drops for dogs (You can also use Frontline Plus, or ones labelled for cats). You put 1-2 drops on the skin behind their necks. & 2-3 drops on the skin by...

So very sorry to hear what happened to your goat!!! That is not cool for someone to let dogs run who would do something like that, & two working together would have been especially hard on your goat. I hope he recovers. That is great you are someone who knows how to do that kind of...
$10 per bird!!?? Do they realize that's 4 times the cost of most birds' purchase price??! And that chickens on average have much shorter lifespans than dogs & cats? Should you really have to register each time you get a new bird that is going to mingle only with other birds you own in your own...
Waterless antibacterial hand soap might clean off the Vaseline. It does great at removing baby oil (I use baby oil to loosen up tape to easily remove it from injured chickens' legs).
You could try the granular form of Sweet PDZ stall freshener. There is a thread on that at https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/707861/sweet-pdz.
I've read elsewhere of someone just putting a light sprinkling of the powder form on their floor & scraping up poops, and sprinkling more as needed...
