found her first nest, now what!

Once in a while they will lay a double yolker if incubated it would mean twins but they very seldom live. I'd go ahead and take the 5 out and toss before you get a stinky mess. with the heat most of the country is having eggs won't last long. If not ready to commit just take the eggs daily, she...

From all I have read Pekins aren't that great at brooding but that doesn't mean she won't at some point it's just they were developed as meat ducks so most of the broodiness has been bred out of them as with other domestic breeds. So she may or she may not . She won't stop laying till her cycle...

Now to hopefully she'll stop laying and get down to business of brooding. Keep us updated! Where's the...

found her first nest, now what!

You do run the risk of her leaving them but you also run the risk of losing her and her eggs to. I'd try to move her into your Fl. room. move as much of the nest you can and put her in a very quiet section out of the way of foot traffic. maybe block it off so she can't get out for a day or 2...

Listen it doesn't matter how secluded she may have her nest preds are everywhere I'd be really worried about leaving her and nest outside over night. You don't lock them up at all? But if your willing to take the risk.? If you have temps in the mid 90's she would probably cook them if she sat...

Up to you, is she sitting on the nest at all? if not then you won't be able to make her. Some of those eggs especially the first 1/2 dozen may not be fertile, but if they are mating you probably have some that are. But then again you either need a broody duck or an incubator to get them hatched.
