HELP! Chicken-sitting possibly sick chickens! - long

They all seem fine today. No change in white stuff on the ears. Continuing the ACV in the water. Thanks again. So glad I won't have to face the owners with a dead chicken tomorrow!

HELP! Chicken-sitting possibly sick chickens! - long

The white stuff is on both sides or I would totally buy the bird poop theory. The sparrows love to come try to steal the chicken feed. I do think the EE was maybe just trying to move up a notch on the pecking order. I wondered if maybe she was trying to look/act bigger than she really is by...

The white stuff on the ears is still there but definitely doesn't look any worse.

Yes, the EE is standing up straight. I was trying to decide if she still looked puffy or not. She's "fluffier" than the other two normally, but she does look like she may be ruffling her feathers a bit still. I caught her pecking at the sick one this morning when I went to feed them, which is...

And I *think* her crop & vent look ok/not any different than usual. She does have some white poop on her butt though.

She's up! I let the other two out to free range in the yard & opened up the coop & she came running out. She came & ate some BOSS & feed then went & drank a bunch of ACV water from their water bucket. She's walking around the run & looking annoyed that her sisters got to go out to play without...

Oh, I'm in Southern CA. It's hot but not too hot, only 82 today, not humid. Her coop is well ventilated. I'm going to go let the other two girls out & hose down the run now. The owners said that's how they clean it.

Also, I find it fascinating that you all do the same first line treatments for chickens that I use for my family! Raw ACV, garlic & honey cure all sorts of ailments!

Oh, and I can't bring her inside:-/ They have an indoor cat & I can't stay with her in their house to make sure the cat doesn't eat her. And I can't bring her into my place as I have a baby & a husband with asthma. We really don't need any chicken diseases! But I live close enough that I can...

HELP! Chicken-sitting possibly sick chickens! - long

Ok, thanks! Pretty sure she's not trying to lay. She looks bad. She is at least standing up this afternoon after the garlic & ACV treatment, but her wings are droopy & hanging. :-( Honey is a great idea. I will make her some honey/rosemary syrup this afternoon. I can try to ask the neighbor...

HELP! Chicken-sitting possibly sick chickens! - long

Ugh:-( When I went to feed them this morning RIR #1 was sitting in the coop & wouldn't come out. They usually all come running for food. I wasn't even able to coax her out w/ treats. She looks lethargic. I put some food in the coop for her. She took 2 pecks then closed her eyes again. I put...

Oh, missed a question. They are not quite two years old.

HELP! Chicken-sitting possibly sick chickens! - long

Thanks! I think the poop looks normal, black, maybe a little oily, definitely no blood though & not watery. Their run is fenced, it is mostly gravel & dirt but there is one raised bed that is filled w/ dirt & straw, grass clippings, etc. The coop is raised and filled with pine shavings, there...

HELP! Chicken-sitting possibly sick chickens! - long

Hi Everybody! Thanks in advance for your valuable feedback. I am helping to take care of my neighbor's 3 backyard chickens while they are out of the country for 3+ weeks. The first week I had them I solved their thin shell/shell-less eggs & egg eating problems thanks to BYC:-) Thank you all...
