    September Hatch-A-Long!

Wished I lived in your area! I have been wanting silkies but sadly I live all the way over here in Oregon. Hopefully you find someone to take them so you don't have to toss them.

    September Hatch-A-Long!

How exciting! I was hoping for some runners this year but sadly since I didn't separate my pair of runners from everyone else all but 1 that hatched were mix breeds. I'm really hoping the one Indian runner who is now a month old is a female! What colors will you be getting out of those eggs?

Although I don't have any eggs in my incubator I have failed miserably at going to the feed store for only the things on my list. They got a new set of chicks in recently and had different breeds then I got last time so again I grabbed a box lol I ended up with 6 more pullets. Now my list...

Congrats on your cheeping babies :) I love to listen to them and watch them wiggle around inside their shells. No I do not think it is wrong for you not to hatch for them anymore. If they won't listen/read and try to learn or even care then they really shouldn't have the animals. The poor...

    September Hatch-A-Long!

I can try to get a pic when I get home. I'm pretty sure it's a boy though. It is a polish crested cross (don't know who the dad is). This ones mom and aunt hatched out 16 of the same mix earlier this year. Every baby that had a comb at hatching was a male and all the ones without a comb were...

My first hatched baby is now a little over 2 weeks old. I'm almost positive it's a little rooster :( but he's so cute and tries to roost on my arm and sleep :) he is convinced that he is a house bird and should be allowed everywhere lol

    September Hatch-A-Long!

I think I'm in big trouble... I hatched out 9 ducks and 3 chickens for my first go around and haven't been able to get ahold of enough eggs for another batch (I'm going through withdrawal here and it's only been a week since hatch for the ducks and almost 2 for the chicks). Well I went into my...

I just finished my first hatch and had similar problems between a power outage and temperature spikes I thought my eggs were goners. It got up to 105 and as low as 95. I was still able to have a 100% hatch rate :) Good luck to you! Happy hatching :)

    September Hatch-A-Long!

I felt the same way the closer it came to lockdown. A lot of the things I read said to lay them down but then I ran into other things that said to put them in a egg carton. When lockdown came I went ahead and pulled them out of the turner and layed them on their side. I had a 100% hatch rate...

    September Hatch-A-Long!

So glad you found him! I don't understand how people can disregard the fact that they have full control of another living beings life and throw them out like trash. Makes me feel better that I'm not the only one! I'm think I'm going to order some quail eggs and try my hand at raising them...

Is there such thing as Empty Incubator Syndrome (EIS) ? Lol if there is I'm pretty sure I have it! I feel the need to get up and check humidity and temperature but sadly I don't have any eggs and my bator is off. I really want to incubate eggs but I don't know how that will go with me starting...

    September Hatch-A-Long!

Sorry for everyone's losses and congrats to everyone with new baby's. I am glad to say that my first hatch ever (also staggered) of 3 chicken eggs and 11 duck eggs was a success. Most of the eggs were over a week old and some just over 2! I successfully hatched 3/3 chicks a week ago and they...

    September Hatch-A-Long!

Ok so it's day 27 on my duck eggs. 8 of 9 have pipped so far. I was wondering if the egg in the picture is normal. It pipped and then awhile later it has another "pip mark" but quite aways away from the first one.

    September Hatch-A-Long!

That's good that they accepted the babies. My two hens that went broody didn't quite fit in themselves and when they hatched out babies my older hens were not gonna let that happen in their coop. I went ahead and moved both mamas and babies to a different pen that way they weren't so overwhelmed...

    September Hatch-A-Long!

I had 2 hens that went broody this spring and as soon as they were sure all their eggs that were going to hatch hatched they had them out and about in the run. Of course the babies couldn't make it back in the coop so I had to build them a separate pen away from everyone else.
