The man who gave it to DH said that it was 5 to 8 days old (looks older to me), that it was a pure Amerecauna (or Aracauna, DH couldn't remember which). It seems to have ear tufts and it's tail is folded down over it's hiney.
Here are the pics.
Question. Can I give it a bath? It pooed all over itself last night and is a stinky mess this morning. It's little tufts are sticky and mashed down.
She, or he, I'm not sure, is a lot more active this morning. Chirruping and whistling at me and little Dottie. We got this chick because Dottie was a lone, and lonely, hatch but she was pecking the new baby. This morning when she tries to peck it it just stands up. But still walks squatty. Does...
Well...DD and DH brought home a chick. The place they went to had lots of rare breeds and the man they talked to gave them a chick free. So that they would tell others, he said...free advertising. Said it was a pure Ameraucana. Chocolate, even. Wow! I said...what luck. Bring her home. What they...
So when can we expect the "Max and Me" book? I would buy it. Maddy and I love hearing about Max. nd her jammies are soooo cute. Right now Dottie is sleeping in a drawer of my dresser. It's big enough and deep enough to hold her, food and water and a heat lamp, but it won't hold her for long. DH...
We only had two out of seven hatch and only one survived. The other was curled in the wrong end of the egg and the membrane was stuck all over it.
We tried so hard to save it, but were not successful.
My problem now is that our little Dottie cries all night. During the day she has to be with...
I also lived in TX, where I met DH. Both my kiddoes were born in Houston, but grew up in San Antonio. DH's family lives in Clear Lake. I'd much rather live in the country, though I do miss my Casa Ole . East TN is beautiful...I think I'll stay here.
Didn't realize there were so many Bama peeps on here. I live in TN now, but I was born and raised in and around Wetumpka. I still have loads of family in Eclectic.
This is my first hatch, from my own little flock and the grandbaby and I have been getting more and more excited the closer we get to hatchday. We have the alarm set on my phone to remind us to turn them (mostly so that she will turn off the alarm and run squealing to me that it's time to turn...
Tonight we go on lockdown and so far everything seems to be going ok. My problem is that DH's birthday is the day before hatchday and he has planned for us all to go camping. It's a big birthday for him, he's turning 40 (I've been there done that), so I don't want to step on his celebratory...
Well I've found that if I don't share my luch with them, they turn into little pirates...intent on looting and pillaging. Those red sexlinks can JUMP! My Paprika also has a love for my sweet tea. Yep...she's a southern girl.
Mine are gonna be mutt babies from my own flock (on day 16 now). I feed them layer feed, cracked corn, they free range, and we have lots of clover round her for them. If I'm eating breakfast or lunch outside in the garden I usually share that with them, whether it's ham & cheese, pb&j or a...
