    No, they hide in the wood itself and come out at night. I have used paint but not stain so I will let someone else answer that one. Burn some wood for the ash. Peat and DE are usually found at farm supply stores and feed stores.

    Why would you want plastic to cover the walls? You should seal the wood to help prevent mites hiding in it, so I don't understand the need for plastic.     Let it sit in the sun and dry out completely before painting. I live in Louisiana and it seems that when you want to build something it just has to rain. This happened to my coop during build as well. I have had the random scrap of osb sitting in the yard for long times and is holds together...
