Has he not heard of not counting chicks before they hatch? Not all eggs hatch, therefore just 6 eggs does not guarantee 6 chicks.. in the event not all of them hatch then that would make your statement of hatching 6 eggs a false one. Can't have that happening....
100% dom chicks in both sexes. The barring on the cocks will be a little darker, often with a couple solid black feathers, this is due to not being pure for barring.
Dom is barring over solid black, so that technically is giving you all black chicks but will also help 'solidify' the black if...
Scaly leg mites burrow into and stay under the skin, usually don't see them just the symptoms they cause.
if medication is acceptable- worming the whole flock with ivermectin will work wonders as they are blood sucking mites, so.. No need to do anything else besides treating a second time to...
Agree those are really nice looking chicks.
Hope I am wrong this time... typically those red/buff birds throw pullets a shade lighter than cockerels. especially when the little feathers on wings come in- they often are distinctly darker shade than the secondaries on the cockerels. however...
Yeah experienced the same thing- was surprised when the barbezieux started laying tinted eggs.. uh?? they changed that detail after I and several others contacted them.
apparently several of their rhodebar stock laid green eggs- supposed to be brown egg breed.
Not unusual at least for us in milder winter areas. Bunch of hens setting on eggs due this Sunday here...
p.s. basic decency is exactly right.... glad there is digital proof.
Very nice to hear stories of people helping other people. This also seems a great way to get some products without having to deal with yourself- such as duck- love them but cannot stand the MESS they make..
I'm not sure how often wild turkeys ingest earth worms.. do they dig a lot like chickens do> Seems they more walk along picking things off plants, surfaces...
if they get black head, they die and disappear from view via predators and scavengers, once the symptoms start they go down hill...
Just like you cannot do crickets/roaches I simply cannot do maggots.
If you get into turkeys, earthworms are a vector for black head, very lethal for turkeys peafowl and to some extent, guineas. chickens are largely immune to and iirc, can be shedders. Black head is the primary disease of...
Make them eat their cricket flour cookies when you use the sales to buy an 1K acre farm.. first class jet rides... lol
This is what I see at the feed store...
that would be awesome if it came in bulk and affordable. There are already bagged dried mealworms targeted at chicken owners- crazy expensive though.. the lady at feed store says they sure are popular and fly off the shelves. So there seems to be a market for this kind of thing.
Yeah I wondered about taste of eggs and meat being affected..
I simply flipped the cat bags over for the listing and looked at the first three and moved on without a second look. It certainly seemed despite a whole side aisle of different brands, they were essentially mostly the same....
the...
Don't think they are in CA.... Feral pigs are becoming a big problem and spreading too. They can get pretty wild looking, all hairy and foul tempered. I think some feral populations may have infusions of Russian wild boar, which are supposedly to be tougher and meaner? also, wild boars...
Yeah they are proprietary brands, sorry. It IS a a headache trying to find cat food with animal protein listed first and repeatedly. The local grocery store only has one kitten and three with animal protein listed way up high.. but these bags were smaller and started at 19 per bag.
Someone...
