I LOVE this idea as a brooder. Not only is it probably better than a heat lamp in so many different ways, but its also just so darn cute. Your little set up is adorable. I think I'll be trying this next time I hatch out some chicks.
I agree that the best way for a chick to hatch is by itself but if it is unable to due to MY error (troubles with humidity, temperature ect) I can't stand by knowing that I may have the ability to give it a chance at life. I've assisted several chicks in hatching and besides a couple of them...
Bee, how are you keeping track of humidity? Are you keeping an eye on the air cells? I would hate for you to get so far only to end up with drowned or shrinkwrapped chicks. Speaking of which, how do you plan on bumping up the humidity for the last three days?
That's not crazy at all! I would be the exact same way if I sold my chicken's offspring. They are my pets and I care very much for them and that includes the chicks that come from them. I would love to have property full of peafowl. That's my dream. A large ranch with guineas, peafowl, chickens...
