Yes Bee,
That would be AWESOME!....if you can turn your flock back into a more natural flock. The Best of Luck To You!!!
I too think that most all of the broodiness has been bred out of most all of our flocks......and that is a shame!
Hello Bee,
I'm glad you woke this thread up again. Yes it would be neat to see all 3 methods gong at the same time. I will be standing by to read about the 2 and/or possibly 3 methods. I'm glad to read that you are doing well!
I will not be hatching any this year. I have too many now...
For those that may be interested. My first hatch in my homemade ice chest bator was a success. I started with 7 shipped Light Sussex eggs and 5 of my Dominiques. Day 7 candeling I removed 2 clear LS and 1 LS with a blood ring. Overall 7 of 9 viable eggs hatched. 1 of those was a quitter around...
Hello Bee,
We all make our fair share of mistakes. So don't beat yourself up too bad. And on the brighter side, sounds like you are having a pretty fair hatching!.......even if they are mutts.....some success, on Experiment # 5! Happy to be here learning from You! Have A Great Day!!!!
Another thing Bee, Keep in mind that the embryo, as it grows creates temp, too. Check this chart out: http://www.aviagen.com/assets/Tech_Center/BB_Resources_Tools/Hatchery_How_Tos/03HowTo3MeasureEggShellTemperature.pdf
I have the mini temperature controller's probe in the water wiggler. I can not put my thermometer/hygrometer probe in a water wiggler, due to the same probe reads my bator humidity. So it is sensing bator temp and humidity. Currently reading 100.9F and 45% humidity.
