We just added a year old hen to our Muscovy flock, and for the first couple of days she hung back a bit, by the third day she was happily mingling with them, breeding, acting as though she'd always been in the flock.
My Muscovy drakes have NEVER bitten me, or tried to. I've been bitten many times by one particular hen ( only this one) on her nest, but the bites were nothing; didn't hurt at all, barely even a pinch, couldn't break the skin if they tried. But I keep my ducks in a natural free-range state...
YOU can disagree if you like, but any farmer, not just me, will cull diseased or injured birds, it's to protect the rest of the flock. Maybe you think of your birds as pets? Mine are livestock.
"Major Injuries", as quoted. NOT "diseased". A duck that's obviously diseased, as opposed to Injured, will be killed immediately and thrown away, not eaten. I wouldn't take the risk of it infecting the flock.
