I had a rotten egg in the incubator, I managed to catch it before it burst but jeez, I can still smell it. It must have burnt into my nostrils or something.
I'm down to 8 eggs and they all seem to be at different stages. One looks like its due on time and the rest haven't filled the shells like...
I'm doing that right now. So far so good.
It's a shame cause the one that broke was one that I couldn't see through the shell so I had no idea it was growing.
I had an accident, oh god I feel sick.
I went into the spare room (where we keep the incubator) and tripped and knocked the incubator. It made a massive wobble and I heard a crack... One egg cracked and started to leak badly. I scooped it straight up and put it in the sink in a panic. By this...
Just heard from my dad that he gave his friend a dozen Vorwerk large fowl eggs to incubate and 9 have hatched today! Looking forward to seeing them tomorrow!
I didn't realise this was going to be stressful and I'm only ten days in. I suppose the temp fluxes hasn't helped but I seem to be running 3 days late during candling. Some looked like they were early quitters and I lost hope to be honest but the last one I checked was moving a lot in the shell...
Im into day ten now, I'm a bit of a candlerholic so I've got my girlfriend to hide the torch til day 14. They all look developing but not as far along as other photos, I guess they want to take their time.
Is a degree in tempreture a matter of life and death?
I just got in from work and it was at 36.4 celcius (97.7 Fahrenheit). Will everything be okay? Stupid 20 year old incubator.
If you turned them in the morning, you should be okay, just keep on top of it from now on with regular turning ;).
I have no idea about question two, sorry about that.
It'll be the 7th 24 hour cycle for me in an hour, I just candled one egg and I'm over the moon with how its developing! I'll take some photos when it gets darker and the girlfriend gets settled since she's just finished work.
EDIT: Couldn't wait, did a couple by myself.
SECOND EDIT: I did...
It's still stuck at 30%, tried two different hygrometers and they say the same thing. Here are pictures of my set up.
I had to put the towel down at the back since I'd over filled it and it spewed everywhere.
The egg tray is removable and this is underneath, it's a sponge which is just a...
I'm having a problem with humidity at the moment, I can't seem to get it above 30% so I think i'll struggle during lockdown. I have the bottom tray filled with water and it still isn't enough, will adding a sponge help? I can take photos if needed.
Just candled on Day 5 into 6, Out of 11, I can see clear veining on 5 eggs :D. I couldn't see through the egg on four of them, wasn't sure on one and one was clear but I'm keeping it in til 14 days-ish.
So happy, don't think I can sleep now!
Woke to find that my eggs had dropped to 97f overnight, I think at least one of my 11 eggs is developing. I might splash the cash and automatic brinsea or some other major brand incubator next month.
I didn't need to panic, tempreture balanced itself out but when I press minimum on my thermometer it says it dropped by 68 degrees farenheit... Hopefully I forgot to reset it before I put it in!
