Ive tried to post a few times but each time it hasnt worked. Here is our story.
Now he ahas hatched hundreds of chicks prior to me meeting him. This was my very first time. We got eggs from our neighbor (they were too cold but we put them in anywsy. ) we also had maybe 30 of our own eggs. Only...
Where do you guys all get your eggs? Id like to have a greater diversity with our birds and im having a hard time finding reasonably priced eggs. :/
That and it looks like the eggs we gotfrom the neighbor were too cold after all and our roo was lazy and only a few eggs are fertile. :(
Question unrelated to our incubated eggs
One of the chicks i picked up(gray one, very small) barely gets yp. It will drink on its own but i have yet to see it poop more than once and all it does is sleep. It rarely runs around. Is there any thing i can do for it?
Haha thanks. I got my first dslr camera last week and thought they would make nice test subjects. The second bird we think is a day older than the others, its bigger and quite bossy
Yay! Eggs in the bator as of late last night! 42 eggs. I marked all of our eggs so that we can tell the difference between ours and the neighbors cold eggs. Cant want to see if any are viable eggs.
Quick question, i feel i know the answer but i am hoping to be wrong. Well the neighbor gave us eggs from this mornings collection, okay great! Well not so great. Theyre pretty cold. :( we have eggs from our birds and are still going to put these in but i dont have much hope.
Are they duds...
Im having no luck finding a thermometer that also tells hunidityfor our hovabators. We lost the old little one and im bummed.
On a positive note our neighbor refuses to charge us for eggs to hatch and he gave me a huge butcher block that we refinished. I told him in exchange we would be...
The neighbor across the road has a small hobby farm which is gorgeous and beautifully cared for. He ordered birds this year, maybe next year ill see about a joint order. I have a feeling that ill end up torchering dh to get eggs or chicks next year. Idk why iwant them so badly. He claims its...
People underestimate roos, some at least. 4 of my twenty were roos. Two silkie and two meat birds. I wish they were all still alive because they did such a great job of protecting their ladies and letting out warnings. Id love more roos right now.
Id like to get my hands on some polish eggs...
Can i join in, even as a newbie?
I had 20 birds last year and unfortunately free range has not been kind to them. I currently have 7 birds left. A pair of Cornish x rocks 5 red sex links and a tsc mystery tetra tint. Im getting eggs from our neighbor as well. He has a big mix of chickens so...
