    APRIL Hatch a long ......Anyone?

Auto sexing is super handy! The males are double barred and the females are single barred. It means that the male chicks will have a dot on their heads and the females will have chipmunk stripes on their backs. Unlike a sexlink chicken, they you will be able to tell the difference between the...

    APRIL Hatch a long ......Anyone?

Yes, I'm thrilled. We usually get boys, which is funny because we have an all daughters and no sons. ;) The chicks are bielefelders, which are auto sexing. I'm thrilled! The first that hatched is a cockerel that we are calling Big Boy aka Dinner. LOL

    APRIL Hatch a long ......Anyone?

I had all 7 eggs hatch by this morning. It's been a super busy day, but all seem to be doing well, even the one that I helped out of the egg the most. I wasn't sure how she would do, but she's doing ok. None of them are really eating yet, but that's to be expected. 4 girls and 3 boys!

    APRIL Hatch a long ......Anyone?

I wonder if this shrink wrapping problem is common with the Brinsea incubators in dryer climates. I am guessing this has happened to me before, but I just didn't know it and was too afraid to open the incubator. While I am sorry about your special egg, I'm glad to hear that you ended up with a...

    APRIL Hatch a long ......Anyone?

I woke up to a third chick, but things were still the same with the others. So, I went in and assisted two of the eggs. One is out and the other has a beak out. The last two eggs have barely pipped, not sure what to do, if anything, about them. The membrane on the two I helped was rather dry and...

    APRIL Hatch a long ......Anyone?

What about your incubator makes this happen? I have a teeny brinsea mini advance, but the eggs on one side of the incubator seem to hatch before the others. Is this something to investigate further. I'm so impressed that you changed your number of chicks so dramatically. How is it going/did it...

    APRIL Hatch a long ......Anyone?

How do you know when a hatch is going bad and it's time to intervene? I had 1 hatch in March and another dead chick in the egg. Right now, I've got two chicks out and several more pipping, but haven't seen a lot of action for a while. My kids are excited because there is NO school today. LOL

    APRIL Hatch a long ......Anyone?

I had a hatch in April that resulted in only one chick, so I was kind of apprehensive about hatching again. But, I did, only used eggs that had not been shipped this time. So far, I have 5 pipped and one out. Woo Hoo! Another one has a hole through the shell and it's hatch mate is helping to...
