Lol try picking one of them up off their roost at night-- Do you get that classic gamefowl squawk outta them? Much more panicky noise than most other chickens. Ebay eggs makes anything possible. :)

I have seen the crates. I'm surprised only a third of them were burned, honestly. They do manage to escape sometimes, though.. here is an article I found from awhile back, this one happened a few hours south of me. The article I originally read said they were loose in the road, this one doesn't...

Where are the other 4000 birds, running all over the highway? I always like to go look at truck spills...,especially if it was a lumber truck. Have gotten all sorts of good things that spilled out on the highway and the companies had to write off. Last year I got about 3/4 ton nice timothy...

If I try that again, I will definitely use something heavier duty. I didn't even think to use washers though, thanks!

I just use a piece of baling twine and hang em up by their feet... it has always worked for me. Last weekend when I was butchering a few of my meaties I attempted to make a killing cone out of a gallon water jug. It fell apart where I had it screwed to the tree before the poor chicken's head...

Yes, dogs can be a problem. Animal control is most unhelpful here too. They will tell you you can't shoot the dog and to catch it and bring it to them, what a crock. This is clearly untrue. State law DOES allow me to kill dogs harassing my livestock which includes poultry. Best to just take care...

That's a better reaction than I have had from owners of dogs who do this kind of thing. I have had a neighbor's dog come in and kill several of my turkeys right before Thanksgiving, then go on over to some other pens and kill a few chickens... I had 9 dead birds lined up in my yard when the...
