I haven't had time to create threads yet.
Tell me about it. 5 acres used to seem like enough land.
What I need is some help taking care of them. It's probably easier just to narrow down my focus.
Sadly they died as chicks. I had a bad outbreak of coccidiosis which I did not catch for a couple of days. I lost all of my Yamato Gunkei and all but one of my Alsteirers.
I guess this reminds me to give people the warning. Many of the imported breeds do not have immunity to the bugs we...
I really want to add them. But I already have 15 breeds and need to make some serious choices this winter about which breeds stay and which go. I am paying around $300 a month just for poultry feed.
That is a downside of the Bresse roos. They also can be human aggressive if allowed to grow too old. My sister had the same problem. My Birchen Marans were hostile from 16 weeks on. Never again.
I breed Bresse, Bielefelders, and Sulmtalers, and English Orpingtons for my meat birds. I gave up on Marans as the Roos tend to be human aggressive. And for my black meat birds, I have my Ayam a Cemani and my Svart Hona.
