Penny, you have given me a good chuckle. I find it so very amusing that the school will allow mice and their poop and urine in your compost pile, but will not allow chicken or goot poo, which IMO is so very much cleaner. For that matter, does Paco do his business on school property???

That is a dilemma, isn't it? For folks who have a small yard, and one or more dogs. What to do with all the piles of dog poo that "they say" shouldn't be used in compost... or if it is composted, it should set for a year or more before being used, and then only on ornamentals. I got a puppy...

Golden miracle tonic for the garden. Repels varmints, gets those compost piles cooking. Folks who are shy about such things can just make a dilute solution of ammonia (don't get the scented kind) and water.

Henny, there are plenty of other ways to heat up a compost pile without adding the dreaded manure! There are lots of liquid sources of nitrogen: Ammonia! You could also add a high nitrogen fertilizer, even dog food, or urea. I believe urea is 46% nitrogen. Then there's an all natural liquid...

Could you line the back of the chain link bins with cardboard? It would hopefully hold the stuff in, hold in moisture, and eventually become one with the compost.

You crack me up! Seems to be a universal cure all. Got coons in your corn? Pee on it. Compost not working? Pee on it. Starting hay or straw bale gardening? Pee on it. Got predators visiting your yard? Pee on it!!!

Have you looked at growing fodder for them in the winter? (or sprouts?)

Are you talking about weight of feed, or cost?

I'd be interested in seeing a feed rate comparison between prepared bunny meat and chicken meat. At least bunnies don't crow. But, I'm thinking that the "dispatching" might be a bit more difficult, emotionally with bunnies.

Also reputed to repel raccoons. Wonderful additive to condition hay bales for bale gardening.
