Hey all! Just wanted to update that of my for sale silkies, Puff Daddy and his girls are sold and will be picked up tomorrow. However, the others are still available so contact me if interested!
@AllyRodrigues I think you made a lot of people perk up at the mention that you were interested...
Hello everyone! We have a move pending and will not be able to take our chickens with us--so, so sad! But, it does create a situation where other chicken lovers in the area can get some really beautiful birds that would not normally be for sale. What we have are silkies (gorgeous paint and...
Phew! You've saved me from myself! lol I am good for whites--got more pretties than I can keep--and will resist the others for now. Sounds like next year we'll have to do some swaps. :D
I wish all you all were closer! lol But, keep me in mind if you're ever this way and who knows? Maybe it...
Good morning, all! Definitely hoping it is much cooler today...last night's little bit of rain made it feel so good outside! Scared of Shadows, you have me sooo tempted with your extra silkie girls! I know you have beautiful birds. But, I dare not get new birds this close to vacation...
Let me second (third?) the hovabator. And I'll go one step further and advise you against getting its look-alike little brother, the Little Giant. They may seem comparable at first and the Little Giant is more common in feed stores at least around here, but having had two LG and two (soon to...
Ohmygosh that is soo cute! Did he get up there all by himself? And did he ride without falling off? I didn't even know chicks could do that! I have always incubated mine, so I'm having momma and chick envy!
More than sometimes! There have been times when my chickens and birds had to be my solace so I could go back out and deal with the humans--and they'd send me out with a smile! There is chicken math, but there is also chicken magic!
I love all this info for selling eggs. So far we haven't...
These are goreous chicks! Showgirls haven't been my fav, but this little chick is so cute she almost wins me over! Look at that fluff on her head! And in the other pile of fuzzies...I see whites, a black (is his penguine tummy hidden or doesn't he have one?) and two partridge. Is that right...
Beautiful birds, everyone! Lots of gorgeousness coming out, like spring flowers. And I'm late with the bday wishes, but I hope if was extra wonderful!
That was a handsome white silkie roo up there...if anyone is looking for roos, I have three extra! One is a handsome black, one a so so...
So sorry to hear about your chicken troubles, Mouzekin! I'm sure the NPIP guys will help you figure out what to do--I have found ours to be most helpful. It's also really sad to hear that your first chicken experience was a bad one...and that you may have been bitten by a bad chicken guy. I...
No worries. My comment asking about the guineas initially wasn't actively taking into account SPS (Stupid People Syndrome) and was way too incredulous. I should know better!
Just to be clear, I am not one of these 'lazy people' and wasn't suggesting anything of the sort. I was surprised to hear the guineas were being so determined...and didn't realize the owner would be so unconcerned about what their birds were up to. Of course any type of predator has to be...
Your silkies should warm up to you with time--though I guess hatchery chicks it's a little harder to say. Ours like to be petted a lot, and talked to. They warm up to treats if they see the other birds eating them but haven't been as quick to grab the goodies as our other birds. Sweet pics...
Congrats on a great garden coming along and all kinds of good stuff hoping! Just to spread the word around these birds--and because my ears grew about six inches when you mentioned selling a cabinet bator--we are looking for a used Sportsman or Dickey's cabinet incubator. We'd prefer...
I am so sorry! That is just awful. The problem now is that the predators have found you...it's my experience through listening ot friends/my sister that once they find a coop, you start losing more birds to different predators. It's like the word is out. Am I correct in understanding that...
Well, I know I've been juggling chicks (almost literally!) and running with the kids, all while wishing I dared take a nap. Grrr daylights savings. I'm sure we'll soon be hearing of all the wonders at WCA and drooling over the fabulous pics! Can't wait!
