So I have a question that is just a curiosity.
Why is it that some cuckoo hens seem to have less pronounced barring than others? From what I've read, the barring gene being sex linked means a hen will only ever have one copy of it, which is why barring is much more pronounced on a rooster with...
Thanks and sorry for continuing with the questions but specifically if I put a non black and non dominant white cock over a cuckoo marans hen would all the f1 chicks be black barred and black because she has two copies of black? Or is it possible for the color of the cock to show through on the...
Question: I know if you cross a black Roo over a barred female you get sex linked chicks with black females and barred males. Now if you cross another color Roo like a buff or something like that will you get the same coloring? Black females and barred males that are black and white barred or...
Ya I've been calling it a modified pea comb. I think the mix has leghorn in it to boost production so they are higher production blue egg layers. I think the combs will get big enough to flop as they aren't fully mature yet and still have been growing.
Thanks for the lesson. I'm still new to...
She's actually a True Blue Whiting out of Arkansas but I'm sure there is some of the same mixes to get it but they are supposed to breed true to blue eggs. My other two don't have muffs and I think her comb isn't a true pea comb. My EEs look much much dif than her in pretty much every way but...
Anyone want to explain to me the possible color genetic behind this girl?
The red/rust feathers are speckled with blues she also has some random larger dark blue/black spots on a couple feathers. The her neck feathers are a salmon lace with light blue inside.
I am wondering what color varieties are possible with certain Roo and pullet mixes. Specifically
Dominque x with non barred (Will all chicks be barred?)
Black Austrolorp x with various pullets (Will they all be black?)
