What color will I get if I put a Black Frizzled Silkie over a White silkie hen?
Or black frizzled rooster over buff silkie hen?
What about White silkie rooster over buff hen!
It is so great to have people that are willing to share their precious time! I know I have shared lots around here to the people just plain new to heritage chickens and egg colors genetics and incubating, homesteading, mothering, homeschooling, natural food and it is so rewarding to shard but...
See I understand that chart but when you say no blacks plus any number of blues won't get you black, blue or splash! Just meaning when you cross a blue with a non black chicken you loose all black, blue and splash and just get some other color.
You have helped a lot and so thankful!
Did you...
Lost me on the third on, lol. Sorry I am trying hard. And all the little ones keep coming up to me to ask questions!
Blame it on pregnancy brain of #14. Lol
Okay now if I am ctossing my BLRW Roo or BLRW Splash Roo with my white Wyandottes which will get my the black or blue Wyandottes with no lacing!
Then if I cross those blue chicks or blacks chicks to each other then I will be just in the regular blue, black or splash gene predictions? Or will...
Okay so what your saying when you said you expected it to be black with one copy then later you expected it to be blue! You really meant that when you said black with one copy of blue that you are talking a blue chick already as the one copy of blue dilutes the black?
Oh and just for a little relaxer break and eye candy here is my little Cochin bantam mix! So pretty and unpredictable coloured!
Hmm can't figure how to post a picture from my photos!
Okay I guess when I look at my splashes they are mostly white with the tiniest amount of black or bluish(to the eyes) grey in them! So I would never thought of them as black!
So I was not picturing a hen that is black with a bit of white as splashes!
Then of course I do have to Orpington...
Yes, sorry my fault I meant to say extended black. Lots of whirling states in my head. So I am guessing she had a black hen but it only carried one extended black gene which she found out by breeding to a non black chicken and got a different color. But she still could have gotten an all...
I am not totally familiar with how this forum works yet! But I had made a post about my Lavendar Orps. But don't want to take up more space here on them! Anyway you can check that post for me! I got a really neat reply from one lady that makes some nice colors and unlike the wyandottes here...
So with my barred rock Roo over Maran hens, will the feathered legs be dominant and they will have feathered legs? I know I will know which ones they are in the hatcher as dark eggs but wondering by sight as they grow as leg bands get lost... Lol
