Hopefully some rest now and he will push out that last little bit on his own. They do hatch a very weird way when you think about it with the head under the wing. It fascinates me how they zip and hatch like that.
I feel I can go to bed now as I was wondering how you were getting on with him...
Two hours sounds good. I know it feels like forever, give it time as long as it's breathing. If all the blood vessels/ veins have been absorbed you can remove some membrane round its beak.
You need to try and find where the beak is and remove the shell that's there. In a normal hatch they make a cap to push off by zipping and when that's loose enough they push their head up from under the wing. Then use the legs to push out of the shell fully.
I can't see the beak on the pics
Just keep doing a bit at a time. You can moisten the membrane as you go as long as it dosnt go into its beak. As you take the shell away it should be able to make an effort on its own then. It really is just time time and more time :hugs
Hope everything goes ok and it hatches ok. You may find that Inbetween your shell removel the chick is able to push out itself. I'm afraid it's a long haul with malpositioned chicks that dosnt always work out well. I don't want to put a damper on things but want you to be prepared. Good luck :fl
If it were me I would start taking the shell off near the pip hole area it's beak should be there because that's were it has pipped. Work in anti clock wise direction to create a cap that the chick should hopefully be able to push out off. Do a bit then reassess. Do a it then reassess. It a long...
