I hatched almost year round,if anyone ever needs a chick for a buddy,no telling what kind I will have on hand.LOL
Silkys are great buddies for chicks. I even use extra silky roosters for surrogate fathers. I have a silky hen raising my last batch of cemani chicks.
Maybe you can find another chick some where so he won't be alone. I hatched some Belgium quail this summer almost all cockerels,very friendly chickens.
