This morning when I went out to feed them, the leghorn was just leaving the nest box. There was one white egg in there! Yay! So I guess its one or both of the other girls thats doing the egg eating... That leghorn is lucky, she's the flighty one that has managed to give me a black eye once, and...
Its been over a week, and I haven't been able to salvage a single egg. My mom is about ready to give up on these girls, and start all over again with chicks. I don't think its fair to give up on them, but at the same time, they aren't earning their keep... Am I ever going to able to break them...
I'm not home often enough to check constantly... My mom used to check on them first thing in the morning, and then I'd check on them again around noon, and every few hours. But my mom broke her ankle last week, and can't get out to the chicken coop.
Tabasco sauce? I thought that birds couldn't...
So I haven't had any eggs in two or three days, and today, I noticed why. They are eating them. How do I get this to stop? Should I be supplementing their feed with something in particular? They get layers mash, and some table scraps (veggies and fruit, mostly). Are they just bored?
