Ah I see, I have a few real plants along with a fake one, and some caves so my loaches and Cory cats can hide. And I have algae wafers that I put in there for my former otocinclus, but I may hold off getting one for a while.

Anyone here have/ had lizard catfish before? I can't find much about them, mainly that they eat algae, grow around 5 inches, are peaceful, and are secretive. I plan to get one today at Petsmart and was wondering if anyone has had experience with them

X2 on setting water out overnight at least. I have a few salamanders and they are super sensitive to contaminates such as chlorine, but I don't want to buy special water or use my dechlorifier I use for my fish every time so I just fill up a bottle and leave it overnight and I've had absolutely...

I live in Michigan and my goldfish (all ~500 of them, only started with two) And koi are fine outside during the winter. the pond they're in is about 6 feet at the deepest point and they share it with bluegill and bass. Last winter we had a huge die off of gills, but the goldfish were fine. I...

I believe that the red stuff is an alcohol mixture, I don't know what the balls are though. You should do a water change and vacuum the substrate to get any alcohol and glass out, not to mention the ball things.

In a few months I'll have the pleasure of setting up a semi-native tank. I plan to put the two bluegill I've raised from hatchlings in it (they are in a 10 gal tank now and are 1.5 inches long). I'll also put in a few fathead minnows. This is where it gets semi- native, I will also put a few...

I avoid koi(and goldfish)with long fins, simply because my pond is just a normal fishing pond with normal predators such as bass, herons, mink, and coons. The koi/goldfish with shorter fins can swim faster, and thus get away from predators easier, than koi/goldfish with longer fins. Last year I...

My pond freezes over in the winter and all the fish, including the goldfish survive.

Awesome designs. I have goldfish in my pond, which also contains assorted sunfish and 2-3 bass. I have a juvenile koi inside until it gets warm enough to put him in the pond.

Yeah, goldfish and koi are not really ment to be in an inside aquarium anyway. They can get way over a foot and a half long and produce a lot of waste and need a large area to swim. It sickens me when people keep goldfish in bowls, that's way too small, has no aeration, and stunts them.

What's up, anyone have experience with fire mouth cichlids? I am planning to get some in a few months so I would greatly appreciate any advice. I've done a lot of researce on them but still would like to hear what people say who have had them, because I have heard a lot of different things about...
