Our final total is 8 out of 9. Total of 12 set, but 3 were not fertile. Opened the last one tonight and it had died full term (saw definite movement 2 days ago). Weird how losing one seems so sad! We do have 3 adorable Ameraucanas (one definite blue, & the other 2 may be black....not sure...- RangeChicks

I have one egg not hatching. We candled it yesterday and it was still moving. Not good enough at candling to know if there was an internal pip or not. No external pip yet. How long do I wait? First chick out at 6am. Others are pippin' & zippin'. This is so perfect since our grandkids are here visiting & they are seeing their first hatching. We candled ours today. All of the eggs have dark shells, & we've not candled eggs before, so we really have no idea what we are looking at. If I was a betting person, I would say 3 didn't start, & the rest are still going. We will see what reality is eventually.......- RangeChicks
