I've had customers that had really good hatches and one actually had 100%. I on the other hand don't have very good luck with shipped eggs. I'm lucky to get 1 to hatch out of a dozen eggs. If I have broody's I just let them do it. They know what they're doing.
My grandsons would lift the top to look in then not close it completely. Temps and humidity would drop drastically and it would be a while before I caught it. Now they don't go near them. My grandsons live with me so I had to nip that one in the but right away. They ask to see now.
When mine does that I put 2 bath towels over it. I fold them lenghth-wise and lay one over the top of the lid and one over the bottom of the lid. That way I can adjust how much is covered to get the right temp. It that makes any sense. I move the towel away from the middle a little at a time...
