PLEASE HELP ME! Re: Sexing Orps (LOTS OF PICS!) UPDATED, NOVEMBER 17!

Really? Three roos?? I'm hoping they are pullets because they're in with all of my other pullets and even though they are the biggest birds in there, they got beat up on. I'd think of they were roos, they would "rule the roost" and/or crow by now??

PLEASE HELP ME! Re: Sexing Orps (LOTS OF PICS!) UPDATED, NOVEMBER 17!

Updated--with pics of the two in question! Sorry, they have NO tail feathers at all--just bloody stumps. So no saddle feathers. And yes, they have been separated, are on antibiotics in their water & I've been treating their owies. There is a little, what looks like a spur bump on the bottom...

PLEASE HELP ME! Re: Sexing Orps (LOTS OF PICS!) UPDATED, NOVEMBER 17!

Quote: I agree, body shots would be the best. Well, I'll see what I can do...but they all look like rumpless birds at this point! And they all run & hide in the coop when I come in to take pics.

PLEASE HELP ME! Re: Sexing Orps (LOTS OF PICS!) UPDATED, NOVEMBER 17!

Quote: I tried that...but they are very shy/skiddish & acted like we were killing them just to get pics! And hubby was NOT happy to help me out. None of them have saddle feathers or really, tails, either (they are very low on the pecking order & are being picked on). The hatch date is within...

PLEASE HELP ME! Re: Sexing Orps (LOTS OF PICS!) UPDATED, NOVEMBER 17!

Quote: Well, that's good to know, thanks! Yeah...none of mine have combs that big...nor do they have any saddle feathers....but being picked on may pluck those all out. Hmmm.....

PLEASE HELP ME! Re: Sexing Orps (LOTS OF PICS!) UPDATED, NOVEMBER 17!

Well, I'll get a few more opinions before I offer two of them for sale/trade.... But if they are truly pullets...I'll be wanting to trade one of them for a cockerel and selling the other--or trading it for something totally different.

PLEASE HELP ME! Re: Sexing Orps (LOTS OF PICS!) UPDATED, NOVEMBER 17!

Wow....okay....I'll have to see if I can find one locally...maybe I can find someone with a cockerel that's willing to do a trade?

PLEASE HELP ME! Re: Sexing Orps (LOTS OF PICS!) UPDATED, NOVEMBER 17!

Quote: Wow....okay...that would be an absolute FIRST for me! I was calculating it out the other day and I hatched out 76 chicks in the 2008 hatching season & managed to get well over half of those as cockerels! So that would be a first! Of course, these & the Sumartas still have the jury out...

PLEASE HELP ME! Re: Sexing Orps (LOTS OF PICS!) UPDATED, NOVEMBER 17!

Umm...I think they hatched in June...or it could have been July?? So they are either three or four months? I did see spur bumps on two of them...but I wasn't sure if that meant anything, or not? There are two ones that are bigger than the others but only one of those had the spur bumps...sighs.

PLEASE HELP ME! Re: Sexing Orps (LOTS OF PICS!) UPDATED, NOVEMBER 17!

Shoot...if they are all pullets, I'll have to be selling two or three of them & trying to find myself a roo!

PLEASE HELP ME! Re: Sexing Orps (LOTS OF PICS!) UPDATED, NOVEMBER 17!

Really??? Then how come two out of the three look different than the others (no wattles?) I can't be THAT lucky! I need at least ONE roo to breed these pullets to--if that's the case!
