I'm not an expert on that, but since chickens don't have pedigrees and bloodline records like dogs or horses I don't know if it would be even possible.
Generally, any bird that at least approaches the SOP is accepted as that breed. But there are a lot of mixes around that are anyone's guess...
IIRC, Golden Comets are a specific sex-linked cross that don't breed true. So even if the farm did have a Golden Comet male (who would be white with some red on the wings), you could get quite a variety of colors from the F2 generation.
