I'd try sending a PM to these peeps first, have seen them reference Pyncheons... hinkjc https://www.backyardchickens.com/u/14/hinkjc https://www.backyardchickens.com/u/19242/rsepiphyte https://www.backyardchickens.com/u/69973/pyncheon-guy Good luck!

Gotta love the balls of fuzz. Just about the size of a ball of lint, and almost as fast... (have you ever noticed how fast lint just magically appears?) That's a LOT of Delaware bantams.

That's what I was kind of hoping to do, just was hoping for some input from someone who has bred Orp. bantams; some things apparently link pretty strongly to type, and people "love" all over the roundy ball shaped ones, and wondering if it's a foregone conclusion that by breeding for production...

I know I was looking into Nankins, but I really LIKE the bantam Orpingtons, and had a thought while looking over the bantam Orp thread. "I'm interested in the chocolate Orp bantams as well, but have seen an interesting thing that I wonder might be a trend with breeders in the U.S.? As in, know...

Source, Check! But, if you DID, how do you pick yourself good ones (once you start breeding)? When you handle a 'good' silkie, how do they feel? 'cause the fluff gets in the way. Did discover a reason to raise them, if you want to cater to Asian restaurants... something about the black skin...

This is so good! Gives great perspective on breed development. Probably would be great to see this on the Delaware thread, so people having trouble with the K line can feel a bit better about not having perfected those Dels yet! :-)

Oooh! like an M.C. Escher drawing. I could just follow those feathers everywhere. SO not going in my yard! Does anyone here seriously breed bantam choc Orpingtons? Just wondering what a really good one should look like. My freebie from a friend is still sporting creamy markings. Pretty sure...

Of course not... so, um, what show did you photograph them at? And is there a good breeder or two you'd recommend to someone to start off with good stock? And, under all that fluff, what on earth is a good 'type' for a silkie? This thread *will* be edumacational, yeah? :-)

So is the standard for adult male OEGB still 22oz? I mean, people eat quail, which are tinier still... I'm trying hard to picture a useful Silkie. I've considered having them for broodiness, but if they could be eaten? Hmmm. Just never thought about it. :-)

Good point, Ms. Gootziecat. I intend to keep trying to encourage the OEGB and Nankin thread peeps to come on over here... perhaps there is already a lot of breed-specific threads like that? Hard to get peeps peeled away at first (Don't give up, Bob!) Let me peel the mycelium off my fingers and...

Do you mean "old oat sprouter" and "foot sq sprouter" - Just to be clear... I tried growing on some screening. Decided getting the roots out was more trouble than it was worth. That looks no fun to me, too... What do you do with the bag after? <shudder> I'm just using clear containers at the...

Hey Walt, have been chatting with someone in WA regarding Nankin bantams, but maybe you could answer some of my questions here? 1. How broody have they been, in your experience; I've heard you can even give them already hatched chicks? 2. I have to ask, do you know anyone who has eaten their...

That seems respectable, since an OEGB is supposed to be about 22oz or so. My copy of the SOP is old, and for large fowl except for 'game bantams'. A nice new copy from the ABA and APA is in the budget for next year, I hope. ....

How on earth did you catch them posing like that? "Oh, Reginald, my Aquafina if you please... does the lighting work for me dahling?" I keep loving every OEGB I see, wish we had more space. Reminds me... need to let the OEGB thread know about this one...

Rephrase then... 1. How much does a full grown cock weigh 2. do any of the people you sell to eat them (or progeny)? 'cause no way around here could I sell all the males in a hatch. Most people want hens, or at best, trios... so still lots of 'extra' males once all's said and done. Walt, will a...

OMG. This is what I get for being gone for a *day*, a DAY. Walt nearly had me convinced to go Nankin, and now there's a solid Bantam thread??? Now I am going to have to hold off again AGAIN, while I get all tanked up on good info to make a decision. Sheesh. Bob. You. Are. Trouble.
