I've seen instances of single-combed Silkies before, as well as Wyandottes with single combs, Sebrights with feathered legs, and the list goes on! :rolleyes:
Totally understand where you're coming from. Is it too much to ask, wishing our birds to at the very least look their breed? ;)

I know of a few varieties, such as Ginger Red, Brassy Back, Brown Red, and possibly others. :) Looked up GDW and it seems some are blue legged.
Makes sense, hatchery stock isn't always in line with the standard.

In the first picture, I pretty much agree with you in most aspects. Gray Japanese (short legs), BTW Japanese, and Red Pyle OEGB pullet. :) It appears the other has a pea comb, whereas Welsummers/OEGBs are single. Plus, her legs are blue. I shall have to do a little research on that one. :D
