Not sure what's gone wrong... A few questions...

My first malepositioned chick had her foot above her head and covering her beak as well. lol She was one of two of my assisted hatches last hatch. She's now a beautiful healthy black pullet.

Not sure what's gone wrong... A few questions...

I don't do staggard hatches, but yes, bators an get rather messy. I would leave the chicks in though until they are active and up and moving. I would do a thorough cleaning between hatches. I personally use bleach water and let it dry. I also run it a day or two w/o anything in it to get it dry...

Not sure what's gone wrong... A few questions...

It would be something to research. How the temp fluctuations and temperature highs/lows effect developement. Chicks are a lot tougher than people give them credit for, that's for sure.

Not sure what's gone wrong... A few questions...

Yes, it sounds like an incubation issue, either temp or humidity. The one that had positioned to internally pip- was it very wet? Was there a lot of moisture in the shell or was it shrink wrapped?

It depends what your humidity is at. I keep mine around 75% and opening the bator to pull the chicks out does not lower it enough to cause problems. Once they are hatching you will have noticed that the humidity increases with the hatching and release of moisture from the egg. I prefer to NOT...

Not sure what's gone wrong... A few questions...

The experts say a chick can go 3 days. I personally take mine out periodically during hatch so they aren't in there more than 12 hours tops...lol As for the turker brooder....I have no experience in that field so I yield to the more knowledgable masses.....lol

LOL, it is very addicting. Yes, the pushing out and the malepositioned pippers are what has held me back from trying to hatch upright. I'm just more comfortable with them in their "natural" position. Congrats on all the action!! It's so fun when you have so much happening at once.

Not sure what's gone wrong... A few questions...

Yay!!! I'd be interested to know what in the videos made you change your mind. I have up to this hatch always had my eggs in the turner for the first 18 days and laid them down at hatch. I just feel that laying down is more natural and, at least in my mind, easier for them to push top and...

Not sure what's gone wrong... A few questions...

The two circled in gray...they are pips. The one on the left is a fresh pip. Chick is just pushing through the shell. The pip on the right is a farther along pip where the chick has broken out a couple good size pieces of the shell. On the bottom circled in red is a zip. The chick is actually...

Not sure what's gone wrong... A few questions...

You wouldn't be the first to candle the bottom and think that you were seeing the air cell. Everything in hatching, almost, is a learning curve. Good luck with the hatch. Hope to hear that you have some hatchers soon!!! ,

Not sure what's gone wrong... A few questions...

Are you candling from the top of your egg? Candle from the top (round end) down into the egg and you should see that all your eggs have the air cell in the "top". If you candle from the bottom up it can be confusing as sometimes it will look as though the "empty space" at teh bottome is the air...
