Aww thank you. She may. However as she gets stronger she hisses at me when I walk by and bites when I am feed her. At least until she realizes that its me and I have goodies for her lol!
Turkey Burger is doing better. Her back is healing well. She preens herself. She eats very well and drinks her vitamin water and has been fairly vocal.
I redressed her leg again today.I was able to fix it so that her foot is flat and straightened out rather than twisted and folded under. She has...
I asked the rancher if they had any I could give her, they usually have some things in the barn. But thats when I was told that theu had no interest in spending money on a $5 bird
I made a mixture of vaseline and Neosporin and rubbed some on her back and leg first day. Next day I let her back dry out and its healing decently. When I change her leg bandage I ad a touch of the mixture agter I clean it.
Thank you,she is doing pretty good. Had a strong appetite last night. Put her outside on a table in a cage yesterday so that she cpuld get some sunshine and fresh air.
I am a fairly honest person :)
I have a very good relationship with the landlord/rancher. I am going to play it by ear. Hopefully TB can heal enough to reintegrate with her flock and not be attacked again. If not hopefully she can live outside near us and sleep on the porch by her own will where...
Starting to act like a turkey. Hissing at me and biting me until she sees I have food on my hand for her lol. Appetite is growing strongly and she is drinking lots of water :)
Dont temp me lol! They are great with their animals. They feed them well and utilize their vet all the time. It is a horse ranch, with between 30 and 40 horses. Im not sure how this is going to play out but Im hoping that the turkey who Iv been calling "Turkey Burger" lovingly, survives so that...
I fully understand the ranchers position. She takes great care of her animals.
I agree. Unfortunately, the rancher is also my landlors and techically the lease states thay can have horses but no birds. I saved a chick this summer that was rejected from one of their hens, left for dead in the...
Im not sure what was in the break area. It was a sharp v break all the through. Foot looked like it was held on by skin and maybe tendons.
There was very little blood and I have no idea how long she was sitting there outside like that when the workers knocked on my door but they mentioned. " she...
Thank you.
Im doing the best I can. Im not a vet so Im just winging it. Using common sense and some info and advice from others.
I am very concerned about a dead foot and infection.
The rancher said they have seen turkeys with breaks like that before on a free range that heal up somehow and they...
I have species appropriate feed as well well as chick starter and chick grower. Iv raised a rejected chick from a hatchling who is now about 70 days old :)
So I have whats left from that as well as the feed this turkey has been getting in the yard since she has been here. So we are good in that...
Yes I sanitized her wounds before dressing them. All I had was witch hazel so I used a little bit of Dawn soap and witch hazel. When I changed her dressing I used a prescription mouth wash that had a special ingredient that someone recommended. I covered the back wound on day 1 after cleaning...
