Darkness blinked. "My fault? How is a snake bite my fault! It could have happened anywhere! Even at the stables. I would have protected all of you! Why don't you have faith in me?"
Darkness twitched his tail. "Why are you looking at me like that?"
Elizabeth walked over to Star and gently touched her leg. "We need a strip of clothing to wrap around her leg,to keep most of the blood from getting to the bite."
Elizabeth ran over to Lauren and Star. "I'm so sorry! I had no idea! Will she be alright?!?! I feel so responsible!"
Darkness nickered an appology to Star. "I didn't know it would happen! Honest! I'm sorry! You'll be alright."
Elizabeth took off down the road.
DArkness looked back at the other horses. "You all stay here! I'll take Star back to the humans. They will help her." he nudged Star gently. "We'll get through this."
Darkness whinnied in fright and rushed to Star's side. "What are we going to do?!?!? We have to do somthing before the poison gets to you!"
Elizabeth reved the engine. "Let's go!"
Darkness smiled and looked at Star. "Star's the lead mare. Why don't we ask her?"
Elizabeth grabbed sevral halters of the hooks. She also picked up a bucket full of oats, carrots and apples. They would need them! She decided to hop on the four-wheeler and joined the others outside.
Darkness nickered and sniffed the wind. "Let's all go find water. I need a drink after all that running."
"O.k. As long as we catch them, anything will do!"
Darkness nickered and then flicked his tail commandingly. "Everyone wants to stay together?" he asked softly.
Elizabeth wrung her hands. Why had she treated him so? "Let's go round up some other horses or go get the four-wheelers! We could catch them."
