I’m sure everyone is tired of this saga but wanted to give final update for today. Star (my sick girl) was eating and drinking this evening and before going in for the night, she was walking around the run, pecking and scratching like normal. What a change. I’m hopeful for tomorrow and more...
Some improvement. I went out to change water and found the sick chicken drinking water. That’s really good but the best is that she went over to the feeder and started eating. That’s the first time in three days that I’ve seen her eat. She may be getting over the hump now. The other girls...
Coops are in full shade, bottom completely open in coop, I have no other blood. Heat index today is 110. Water being changed out very 1-2 hours and always feel cool. I have added two watering bowls that I add a couple of ice cubes very hour so that the water is cool but not cold. Very hour...
I’m at my wits end on this one. I lost another one last night and had one that was not moving much this morning. I’ve been giving electrolytes as well. Heat index today is 108 here.
The one that was moving slowly and not really wanting to get up this morning I thought for sure was next to...
They are only 6 months old. Not much blood so I’m still concerned as to what is going on. However, I started the amprollium water this morning. If it’s not coccidiosis, this won’t hurt them. After eight hours, they have all been drinking and only one seems a little week but she is up and...
Lost another this morning. I’ve cleaned everything and have started treating their water with Corid (amprollium). There was some bloody stool in the coop this morning so coccidiosis may be the culprit. Therés not a vet around here that treats chickens.
There was no evidence before this...
I agree with run versus coop. They spend almost all day in the run, even today. Fans were going inside the coop all day and there was a breeze here all day but it was still very hot. Coop and run are in the shade except for about an hour at noon. It could have been heat stroke. I don’t know.
No obvious problems. Both laid eggs this morning. Crops were what I would expect after a normal day, full but not hard. Normal appetite, normal poop, and I’m changing water every two hours due to the heat. Also running fans in the coop and a fan blowing down the run. I go in the coop every...
