I stand corrected. It is 73 1/3 sf. And anyone stating that more than 1 chicken for this space is asking for poor health of a chicken. ;) Totally reasonable.

Hopefully the OP will have a understanding that putting more than 1 single chicken in their set up as described is not a recipe for unhealthy chicken keeping. However your changing of opinion to 2 to 3 chickens isn't that far off from my original and unchanged idea of 4/5 birds at least lets me...

I find that the original statement by beekissed was that this space provided by the OP was only good enough for 1 chicken. Then they later stated that 2or3 chickens would be max. Then the "cramming" "jail" and "clown car" and unhealthy conditions of chickens were associated by too many...

Every coop has a purpose and use. How we use them in our our efforts for eggs, meat and pets is up to each of us. I hope the OP understands that chickens don't need a mansion to be happy and healthy.

A good rule of thumb is 4 sf per full sized chicken in the coop and 10 sf per bird in the run. Using that figures to be 4 or 5 chickens. I remember mentioning that in the first response. Raising chickens for 30 yrs now I have used many different coops and set ups. You will figure it out and...

I used this set up for 4 years.

I fit 8 healthy and happy hens in this 4X4 coop with a run attached. So I think you would be fine with 4 or 5 full sized chickens. I see your coop dimensions are 6' X 4. With the addition of your 48 sf run you should be ok.

Sounds like 4 or 5 with at set up.
