In addition to the huge ventilation I recommend for the welfare of your chickens' respiratory systems - it is also about light. In a closed up coop they get insufficient light and therefor daylength vs. length of dark period. That can cause molt much earlier in the season than birds in a coop...
I agree wholeheartedly with all that has been said.
The main thing I can relay is that there can never be too much ventilation. Don't worry about cold. Keep the big windows wide open. You'll never have a respiratory issue if you give your birds completely fresh air.
