Yep, chuck the large fowl egg if you don't see anything now...unless it's solid black...only chuck it if it's clear at this point. Also, on the EE eggs, if they are green eggs, they can be really hard to see through.

If you aren't using an incubator, you don't have to "lock down" anything. As a rule, they hatch at the same rate, though my d'uccles usually hatch earlier than everything else...
