    Sebastopols. A cash crop?

Quote: I guess I should of been more specific. I didn't think you would be selling any in the photos but certainly with as many Sebastopols that you breed I was wondering if you will have any extra 2009 - 2010 ganders for sale in the fall for breeders such as myself who are trying to improve...

    Sebastopols. A cash crop?

Mrs. Turbo : but, if you do buy goslings or young birds, you could end up with a really nice bird that wouldn't be for sale as a adult. I don't sell SQ sebastopols.....they are few and far between.....but that is a different story on the chickens and ducks. Good point for those who cannot...

    Sebastopols. A cash crop?

Jenifer you have to have a photo hosting website to post pictures here. There are any number of free ones out there. You need to link to that site in your messages or your photos have to have an URL to embed in your messages. Opps...we were posting at the same time. I see you figured it out...

    Sebastopols. A cash crop?

I was able to fill several orders plus I kept 11 gosling's, but ya, it was a very odd year! Even heard reports of some issues with wild waterfowl having poor hatches. Its probably George Bushes fault. I still have a smattering of goose eggs coming which the crows are happy to eat. Oh wait! I...

    Sebastopols. A cash crop?

Thanks Nik & Violet! Ultrasol, I agree on going for type first. That's why I'm not all that adverse to using quality smooth Sebastopols. I think the more refined heads are pretty much the norm in your average run of the mill Sebastopols. I really haven't seen a lot of the rounder heads. Even...

    Sebastopols. A cash crop?

Golden Valley Farm seems to of disappeared but I wanted to show you some of my 2009 goslings (photographed at 5 months old) whose father is almost completely smooth. Now how do you suppose that happened? Do you have any curly, white Sebastopols whose feathers drag on the ground?

    Sebastopols. A cash crop?

Quote: What do you mean...you bought 4 day old goslings and they didn't turn out nice? What would you do different now? Also, with Sebbies, their feathering will improve by the time they're 2 years old (if its going to). You really can't judge them as yearlings.

    Sebastopols. A cash crop?

Nobody, even well known breeders can get all or large numbers all show quality. In any give hatch of goslings, litter of puppies, or whatever if you get 1 or 2 show quality results you're lucky. The vast majority of anything is pet quality and that's what most people want. How many people do...

    Sebastopols. A cash crop?

Quote: I find this a rather odd statement since Dave's prices are the highest of any Sebastopol breeder that I know of, AND he not only sell's smooth breasted colored Sebastotopols but smooth breasted whites as well! Who has higher prices...please post a link to such websites.
