How many full sized chickens (Barred Rocks) should I keep in a 10x10 coop? (they will also have a bigger fenced in run outside the coop)

That's awesome! I will also be hand building an open 10x10 coop for now and fencing in a bigger run space for them outside it to run around and play :) . I've never owned chickens, but will do my best.

I live in the hot desert and will be raising/keeping chickens for the first time. I'm looking to buy online Barred Rock hens for eggs and few roosters for meat purposes. I still need to build a desert coop and will need to research designs.
