Sadly I can't feed them "unnecessary" feed. I am only allowed to feed them at night.
I taught my older chickens that certain places like the woods, the field, and the road equal bad things. I tap their backs with a metal pole, not to hard, just a poke and use it to lead them into the yard. They...
He doesn't even think about these new four. Ignores them. They even sleep on exact opposite sides of the coop.
He has 7 full grown hens and 3 sons and 3 daughters that are still young. 5 of the chicks are drifters they will spend half of the day hanging out with the main flock and will spend the...
I do have a rooster. He takes care of the flock pretty well. It is just that these chicks, even though they have been in the same area of the other chickens for 5 months. They just don't want to merge their flocks together.
Sorry didn't notice your post till now. I give my chickens a bit of vegetables. From time to time. All these chicks want to do is see the world. No time to eat is their moto or at least they act like it is.
Good news is that when school starts I am going to talk to my friend about taking them. They are just way to stress inducing for me. I might be able to butter my parents a bit into allowing me to keep them in the coop for one day. But only that.
My family does have pallets it's just that my dad has them for other purposes. Also my parents don't want the chickens in a run. They want them to kill the mice and eat up all the bugs.
Nope I have no run for them. The other chickens would avoid this sliver pole. I use it to lead them out of the woods and off of the road by gently tapping their back and nudging them. They grown to hate it so much that whenever I appear with it they go up to the house because they know that they...
Ok. This is NOT their coop. They get alot of water and are feed a bunch of food at night. Their coop is a coop. They have shelter, perches, food, and water in the coop. They DO NOT live in this run! Also when I say might I mean 99% chance. He raises chickens for eggs and once said that he would...
They just started to cross the road. My other chickens ARE trained to not cross the road. Chickens are not dumb. If a fox kills a chicken then they avoid all foxes. Chickens don't just forget how to play a piano or forget that they were potty trained. As I said before when school starts my...
But I trained my other chickens to not do it. This method doesn't work on the new ones so I was hopping that there was some other method. People train chickens to sing, dance, and even play piano. The pen is to small. They might freak out and rub their beaks against the mesh and bleed out. 😰...
I agree that it is small. I only used it once for a bantam hen and her chicks because of ravens and she was really bad at protecting them from the other chickens untill she got a bit more meat on her bones. Also my friend might take the 4 chicken off my hands when school starts.
How do I train...
I got 4 chicks from my aunt that impulsive bought them all the time they are a pain. They do horrible things and are exhausting. Now they are around 5 months old. I think? Everyday they cross the road three tiimes and eveytime I have to get them. Now this is the problem, we have idiots driving...
