If it is a rooster it isn't crowing. I told my husband I thought it was a rooster and he disagrees. Because this one and another one look the same and the other 2 don't have the wattles. I was told these 4 are Welsummers(spelling?)🤷♀️
Thank you for that. It really means so much to get all of this support and to hear how well others blind chickens are doing. Y'all are incredible people and I'm really happy I landed on this site! :love:hugs
So, first of all I want to say a great big thank you to everyone who tried to help me out with my pullet with the eye thing. And secondly I'm so, so sorry that I haven't updated everyone here, my goats are all kidding, of course within days of each other and for some reason one of my new moms...
No, her other eye is not affected. She's eating and drinking normal for her. Running around with everyone else, etc. It just seems to be her one eye. So tomorrow I'll try to get some terramycin at the feed store and open her eye after applying a warm cloth and apply the ointment. I'll also try...
I wanted to be sure it would be ok for me to open her eye after applying a warm cloth to see if she got something in it or was pecked. So I'll try in the morning.
Also, I don't think there's a smell around her beak, etc. And it doesn't appear to have any pus collecting around the eye, beak or nostril area. No wheezing or trouble breathing, etc. She's just scared cuz hubby is holding her. I'm thinking she got something in there or was pecked. But just...

She was scared when my husband was holding her. They're not all entirely used to us. As far as I can tell it's just her eye. No wheezing or gasping, no weird smells or sneezing, or nasal discharge. As far as I can tell she's eating and drinking normal for her.
I haven't tried anything like a...
I've had them for a couple of months now. Does it stay that long on the birds or even in the coop? Their coop has a completely enclosed run with chicken wire on the bottom. I leave them in there for a good part of the day them turn them out for a couple of hours to free range. We've had a hawk...
Just now I went to get my pullets some fresh water and saw that she had not opened her eye. On further inspection, her eye seems to be sealed shut. I don't know if it's from injury or if she got something in there. But I really don't know what to do or if there's anything I can do for her. Any...
