So what do people think of this article (a) - I am sure I read RJF were what chickens *came* from, not that they were chickens, so the title threw me (b)- I understood laying habits are seasonal, not year round so why call them 'prolific egg layers' (c)- I understood them to be wild and roosters...

Well said, re deer comparison and a rut promoting extra territoriality and aggression. Yes, I did go and look around a bit online this morning (for what appeared more reputable sources such as edu sites and research papers among other things) and read that they had seasonal reproduction - which...

That is something interesting! I will see if I can find research on red jungle fowl and if/how there is tolerance for immature and mature males. Just because I wonder at how much fatal aggression is natural to the poultry originator species, and/or if it has been bred more into gamefowl by humans.

Because he didn't *start* by correcting the mistakes. He started with this at Tanquerey: So being new to gamefowl I asked, The response was: I said I didn't expect links or a long work-intensive explanation, just point me to some specifics of what they were saying was wrong, so * I could...

You missed something, JadeFarms. All *I* did was ask what was incorrect - I was told if I wanted to know I should go learn it elsewhere because it should be obvious, and that I was 'entitled' to ask someone who was representing themselves as being experienced to to share their reasoning. I...

Some hard times going on in gamefowl/gamebird land. I am sorry it has become a thread where feelings are being hurt for no good reason - they are an interesting topic, but apparently devisive here too.

Okay, enough of me being PC, subtlety is not apparently your fine suit. YOU are the one who wrote I had an 'entitled mentality' for thinking to ask questions of experienced people and learn from them. YOU are also writing that only people who have hands-on experience should be posting advice...

So, the people posting and giving advice on the forum should have hands-on experience. I agree that's best, when available. But when I ask the people who have more hands-on experience to impart some of their earned wisdom, I am told I have an 'entitled mentality'. So now I all need to do is...

I totally agree that it is very difficult to look for information through the loads and loads of it out there, then seive through it to sort accurate from inaccurate. This is why I do like to come here and go through these threads and posts - to learn by hearing about other peoples' experiences...

I appreciated your writing up until your final paragraph. I have ridden and trained horses for over 40 years, and I am ALWAYS willing to help and educate. I don't expect everyone to have my level of knowledge to begin. And there are some VERY obvious things that beginners fon't know, and that...

Sorry, no. The individual stating another is posting incorrect information should expect to have to at least point at the error - true educators interested in helping others (and not just poking) may also cite or provide a link to more accurate information. I don't require a link or a long...

Could you point out some instances of misinformation? I'd like to be able to understand, without having to fine-comb through multiple posts.

I have seen videos where people have a lot of aggressive roosters, where they are tethered by a small band around their ankle, on a pin in the ground, sort of like how people will tether goats by their halter to a stake, then move it around. The roosters seemed fairly content. I don't know...
