    This summer we finally had a roof installed (not by me!) over the run, so here it is then, before site cleanup, and before winterizing with the plastic. The low wall is north, and the screened walls are south and east. Mary

    I use the semi- clear plastic so the run is light, not dark. When the snow flies, most chickens aren't interested in being out on it. I'm not shoveling an outside play area either, so have a covered run. Mary

    I use plastic wrap (semi see through, not the light blocking tarp) Attached to the run walls with staples and then screwed in wood strips, on the outside, up to about 8" from the top, so there's still ventilation. It will block the wind, rain, and snow just fine. Mary
